The LNG pump skid consists of a cryogenic submerged pump and pump sump, together with associated vacuum-insulated piping and remotely operated valves. It is capable of performing functions such as self-pressurization unloading, pump-assisted unloading, temperature conditioning, pressure regulation, LNG dispensing, and simultaneous unloading and dispensing.

 

In the event of a power outage at the pump skid, LNG dispensing to vehicles can be accomplished via the self-pressurization method. The pump skid is controlled by a Station Control System (SCS); the imported PLC delivers proven stability, and the operator touchscreen can be field-mounted for local operation. During system regulation operations such as unloading, pressure regulation, and temperature conditioning, the system working status can be monitored in real time. A monitoring display is also provided in the control room for the routine daily management of the pump skid during fueling operations. Additionally, a specially designed anti-cavitation system prevents pump dry-run, ensuring stable and reliable operation with optimal cost-efficiency, while maximizing the utilization of liquid inside the storage tank.

 

 

LNG is transferred from the transport tanker into the on-site storage tank via the pump skid. Three unloading modes are available to accommodate different site conditions and operational priorities:

Self-Pressurization Unloading​ - LNG vapor from the pump skid's vaporizer is routed back to the tanker to build up pressure inside the tanker. The resulting pressure differential drives LNG flow from the tanker into the storage tank. This mode requires no electrical power and serves as a reliable backup during power outages.

​ - The cryogenic submerged pump actively draws LNG from the tanker and transfers it to the storage tank at a controlled, high flow rate. This is the primary mode for routine operations, offering fast turnaround and consistent performance regardless of ambient temperature or tanker pressure.

Combined (Self-Pressurization + Pump) Unloading​ - Both methods operate simultaneously: the self-pressurization system maintains tanker pressure while the submerged pump provides active suction and boost. This hybrid mode maximizes unloading speed and is particularly effective when the tanker is nearly empty or when operating conditions are less than ideal.


A portion of LNG liquid from the storage tank is diverted through the pump skid's built-in vaporizer, where it is gasified and heated to a controlled temperature. The warmed vapor is then re-injected into the storage tank to raise the overall tank temperature to a preset setpoint. This function is essential for:

Preventing over-cooling of the storage tank during extended idle periods;

Optimizing the thermodynamic balance inside the tank to minimize Boil-Off Gas (BOG) generation and reduce pressure-relief venting losses.

A portion of LNG liquid from the storage tank is circulated through the pump skid's vaporizer, where it is gasified and used to increase the tank pressure. The pressurized vapor is re-injected into the storage tank to bring the internal pressure up to a preset operating setpoint. This function ensures:

Compliance with safe operating pressure windows, reducing unnecessary BOG venting while keeping the tank within design limits.


LNG is drawn from the storage tank, pressurized by the pump skid, and delivered through LNG dispensers to the vehicle's onboard cryogenic cylinders. The entire process is metered with high-precision mass flow meters to ensure accurate quantity delivery. This function enables the core purpose of the station - providing LNG as a clean, cost-effective alternative fuel for heavy-duty vehicles. Key features include:

​ - Each transaction is measured and recorded for billing and inventory reconciliation;

​ - Fueling can proceed while unloading is in progress, maximizing station uptime and throughput;

​ - Automatic shutoff, leak detection, and emergency stop systems are integrated into every fueling cycle.
